Go into a supermarket and look around sometime. You will see 3-5,000 different products offered for sale, from companies large and small, all in distant locations. None of them have direct contact with the people who buy their products.

These large companies must know what consumers think in order to plan their production schedules, improve existing products and design new products. To measure public opinion, they hire market researchers. Market researchers use surveys to measure this opinion and get the answers.

There are thousands of surveys being made every week. How do they get all those people to take the time to sit down and fill them out? The answer is, they make it worth their while; they pay them.

That is what creates the opportunity for you to get money for surveys.

That is how you can get paid for surveys that you take over the Internet.

To get invited to take surveys for money you need to sign up with survey makers. The challenge is to find good ones. There are many, but 20% are good, 40% are marginal and 40% are to be avoided.

Your problem is how to get a good list of survey makers to sign up with. The problem is that the lower 40%, the no-pay/low-pay time wasters do 90% of the advertising, trying to recruit new survey participants to replace those that just quit.

There is a lot more detail you would need to know to take surveys for money but all the information you need can be accessed by clicking on any of the links in this article.

When you get a good list and are taking surveys for money, how much can you make? It depends on your diligence and demographics but most serious survey-takers report incomes of $200-$600 a month. Many report incomes of $1,000 a month or more.

Try this fly fishing trick:You will see the fish take the fly on the surface however trout and other fish tend to feed under water so if you see the fish rising to the surface it is time to use a dry fly.  Nymph fishing is very popular after the flies lay eggs on lakes or in streams and they hatch out as nymphs. When nymph fishing the imitation nymphs you us will be weighted to stay below the surface of the water.

Most fish can be caught on a fly but the most common are trout, salmon, chars, and most game fish.  In most areas the trout are the most popular and you will find them feeding mostly on small insects in shallow water.

Heartgard Prevents Heartworms

Filed Under Uncategorized | Comments Off

Buying a heartworm deterrant is one of the loving things you can do for your dog’s

happiness. However…if you are like most pet owners, you likely have some inquiries.

Below are some answers to guide you as you narrow down your search.

Q: What does Heartgard do?

A: Heartgard is a veterinary prescription that prevents heartworm disease in dogs and cats.

Q: How does Heartgard work?

A: Invermectin is the main component. It interferes with the parasite’s nerveous

system, and then paralyses and kills the young heartworms (larvae).

Q: How often should I give this medication to my cat or dog?

A: Once a month.

Note: you would do well to feed your dog or cat her Heartgard medicine on the same day, every month. The stickers, that come with your purchase, will help you remember.

Q: What if I miss a dose?

A: If the amount of time between doses exceeds 30 days, Invermectin’s effectiveness might be lessened.

(Remember, Invermectin kills budding heartworms. And forgettign medications may

allow the heartworms to develop to a point where the medicine is less effective.)

For that reason, professionals advise testing your dog or cat for heartworm infection

six and a helf months after the forgotten dose.

Q: What about fussy breeds like Collies, is this product safe for them?

A: Collies and other related breeds have shown sensitivity to Invermectin. However, the amount of Invermectin in Heartgard is

minimal. And the maker, Murial, states that the does should be safe if given as

directed.

Q: When should I begin giving my pet Heartgard?

A: Heartgard anhiliates larvae your pet was subjected to within the last thirty days. That said, if

you are going to give your pet a seasonal preclusive, feed it to him

one month after the first mosquito appears.

Q: What about puppies?

A: You can begin your puppy on the preclusive when he’s at least six weeks old.

Q: What if I desire to protect my pet against intestinal worms?

A: Consider Heartgard Plus. along with Invermectin, it uses Pyrantel, which eliminates hookworms and roundworms as well as heartworms.

Q: cat or dog need to be tested before feeding him Heartgard?

A: Yes. Giving a heartworm deterrant to a pet that already is infected heartworms may cause a severe reaction that may be hazardous or even fatal for your animal.

That said you will also need to have a veterinarian’s prescription to purchase Heartgard.

You may also consider using a generic Heartgard.

Learn Conversational Spanish

Filed Under Uncategorized | Comments Off

Spanish is a “romance language”, coming from the common or “street” Latin spoken in the Roman Empire. Latin has had a great influence on English. Latin was once the “official” language of England; the Magna Carta was written in Latin, which was the official language of England at the time. For this reason English and Spanish have common roots, which makes Spanish easy for English-speakers to learn.

Your best bet for learning Spanish is to get a good interactive audio cours. You can buy one on the Internet, download it in seconds and be taking your first lesson in only minutes. You have complete control over your learning speed. Downloadable media means you can offload the lessons to almost any portable audio device and take your lessons where and when you choose.

There are a number of interactive-audio courses available. The leader, Rocket Spanish, is reputed to be the best one of all.

How do you learn Spanish? Well, how did you learn English? You learned English vocally, learning a few words, then practicing them in conversations, gradually adding to your vocabulary and learning how to communicate effectively.

It’s the same way with learning Spanish. Forget the classroom drudgery of memorizing words for vocabulary and conjugating verbs. Start with the basics, learn to communicate, THEN get into the rules! Children can speak pretty good English long before they study grammar, or even know what that word means!

Rocket Spanish can be your key to open up a whole new world of communicating fluently in Spanish!

Canon Digital Rebel XTi Review

Filed Under Uncategorized | Comments Off

The Digital Rebel XTi, the newer version of the Digital Rebel XT, resembles its predecessor in many ways. It offers a 10.1-megapixel sensor, bigger eye-friendly LCD screen, and many new features. Small body molding changes in the XTi arguably makes a difference in the ergonomics of the camera; depending on your hand size, you may find the XTi comfortable or unbalanced and cramped.

Two of the most salient changes from the XT are readily apparent on the back of the unit: the LCD screen is a larger 2.5 inches, and the dedicated status LCD is missing; instead the XTi uses the main LCD as the status display. The camera automatically activates or deactivates the LCD screen as your eye moves to or away from the viewfinder. In addition, the newer version shows flash exposure lock and white balancing in its viewfinder’s status bar.

The critical shooting functions are easily accessible through the four-way buttons and LCD screen on the back of the camera. Program shift, exposure compensation, exposure lock, drive mode, and focus-point selection all have dedicated buttons.

The menus are simpler and easier to navigate than with the XT. Additionally, the Picture Styles feature has been added, offering predefined image parameter sets for shooting in specific situations. For example, the Portrait style provides settings appropriate for reproducing skin tones.

Several features from the previous two versions of the Digital Rebel have been added or enhanced. The Auto Rotate During Playback mode allows users to magnify and pan around the image that appears immediately after shooting. Users can view the histogram display in luminance (brightness), RGB or monochrome. And users have new long-exposure noise-reduction options.

The XTi has a 10.1-megapixel sensor, upgraded from the XT’s 8-megapixel.

The Xti features a triple self-cleaning sensor system. First, the sensor has an antistatic, dust-repelling coating. Second, a clear element in front of the sensor vibrates ultrasonically when the camera is turned on or off, to shake off dust. Third, users can create “dust referencea” shot that permits the digital removal of dust spots during later editing.

Users have versatile lens options, as this camera will accept all Canon EF and EF-S line lenses, which include everything from ultra-wide-angle to super-telephoto functions. The unit is also compatible with EX-Series Speedlite flashes.

This camera tends to retail in the $500 to $800 range.

Features and Specifications include….

Camera Type: SLR/professional
Image Sensor: CMOS
Dimensions: 3.71” high x 4.98” wide x 2.56” deep
Weight: 1.12 lbs
Exposure Speed: 3 frames per second
Shutter Speed: 30 – 1/4000 second
White Balance: Auto, Manual, Daylight / Sunny (Preset), Cloudy (Preset), Fluorescent (Preset), Tungsten (Preset), Shade (Preset), Flash (Preset), Color Temperature Adjust
Flash Type: Built-in and External
Flash Functions: Flash Off, Auto Flash, Red-eye Reduction, Manual
ISO Speeds: Auto, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600
Image Resolutions: 3888 x 2592, 2816 x 1880, 1936 x 1288
Microphone: no built-in microphone
Self-Timer: 10 seconds
Interface: USB 2.0
Video Interface: video out
Focus Type: auto and manual
Lenses: Interchangeable
Power Type: NB-2LH
Power Duration: 360 Images
Memory Type: CompactFlash Card, Types I and II
LCD Screen Resolution: 230,000 pixels
Viewfinder: Optical (Through the lens)

Users generally give this camera good reviews. Users who are transitioning from point-and-shoot cameras give the XTi especially good reviews, citing the great picture quality and ease of use. Some users lament the lack of an inborn anti-shake feature, and although lenses are available with this feature, they are high-priced. Prospective purchasers, especially those transitioning from point-and-shoot cameras, should be aware that fully realizing the potential of this and similar cameras does require purchasing multiple lenses, the selection of which is not especially easy or cheap. That having been said, there is little buyer-remorse for those who do wish to invest in this camera and the lenses suitable to their photographic goals.

Cunard Cruise Lines

Filed Under Uncategorized | Comments Off

Cunard Cruise Lines has been defining luxury in cruises for over one hundred and fifty years. Cunard is always at the head of the list for its world cruises, and deservedly so. They specialize in world cruises and draw many of their passengers from Great Britain. Three spectacular ships lead the Cunard Cruise Line family. The ship Queen Mary 2 is the only ship which has consistently scheduled transatlantic voyages. The Queen Elizabeth 2 has forty years in service, and in 2008 is celebrating her farewell season. In 2010 a new Queen Elizabeth will be introduced. The final jewel in the Cunard Cruise Lines tiara is the Queen Victoria, the newest addition to the Cunard family. Cunard has recently been recognized by Porthole Cruise magazine in their 10th annual readers choice awards. Cunard got top honors in Best World Cruise Itineraries and Best Transatlantic Crossings.

My review of Our Cunard Cruise Our Cunard Cruise was a large group affair, and a sensation carnival prevailed. We left from London and joined the Queen Victoria in Barcelona. Upon check in at the ship, there was a bit of a wait, perhaps 30 minutes, but admittedly about 10 minutes of that was part of our large group. Once we were sent on through, we were able to get settled in our cabins with complete ease, and had spectacular assistance from the porters in this area. We were experienced at cruising and had over a dozen cruises Royal Carribean between us as a group.

The cabins were extremely nice, and were rather larger than we had even imagined. Having been on 6 cruises myself, I can say that these cabins were larger and better situated than those I have had on other cruise lines. My aunt has herself been a lifelong cruiser and says that Cunard has the nicest cabins, and her cabin with a balcony was really beautiful, and I would love to have one for the next time.

The food was absolutely amazing; I cannot complement the food enough. Night or day, you can literally get anything imaginable and it will be amazing quality, and fresh. Cunard does not publish the recommended gratuity levels as some other lines do, and in situations such as those involving stewards. To add a tipping guideline would be a welcome addition.

For excursions Cunard really shines. It is rare to find an excursion while cruising that is made simple and easy, but Cunard has done it. Our group was considering skipping the Monaco excursion, purely because it can be such mayhem. However, the employees made it absolutely simple to board the launch together and enjoy an absolutely lovely day in a very beautiful city.

Cunard also helped a great deal when it was time for us to board our flight home. We knew we would have a long wait in Rome at the airport, but thought it could not be avoided, as most cruise lines want you to check out by 10 am or so. Cunard told us we ( the group flying to Britain) were welcome to stay on board and eat, and enjoy the ship until closer to our departure time and that was wonderful. My whole family appreciated it, especially the elderly members who would prefer to wait in comfort rather than a crazy crowded Italian airport. Our entire group will choose Cunard again for our next cruise, and we could not be more pleased with the overall experience. Cunard Cruise Lines has been defining luxury in cruises for over one hundred and fifty years. Cunard is always at the head of the list for its world.

Test Your IQ Online

Filed Under Uncategorized | Comments Off

IQ tests are tests which attempt to measure intelligence - where intelligence - subject to some contention, is defined as mental ability to among other things, solve problems, comprehend idea, learn new things and benefit from experience.

Attempts at testing intelligence have been with us for quite a long time. Ancient China for example, had an examination system (which really was some sort of an intelligence testing mechanism) and which was employed in the recruitment of civil servants during the Han Dynasty.

Intelligence testing as we know it by that specific name however has its roots in the work of a Frenchman called Alfred Binet early in the 20th century. History has it that Binet - who had established himself as a force to recorn with in psychology in France by that time had been given an assignment by the French government to develop a test that could reasonably predict given children’s potentially for educational achievement. The end result of Binet’s work was what he referred to as the Binet-Simon intelligence scale which was for long was used to ‘measure intelligence’

There have been many developments in the field of intelligence testing since Binet first formally ventured into the field. In fact, the very term IQ test (intelligence quotient) testing has been overtaken by these developments. As it were, when the term IQ test was coined, intelligence was then measured as a ratio of ‘mental age’ and ‘chronological age’.

Simply speaking, there were tasks that were considered apt for a given age and intelligence quotient which was measured by the IQ tests then could be calculated at Mental age/Chronological age x 100. In this case, a child of 10 years who could undertake tasks considered apt for a child of 12 had an intelligence quotient of 120, because 12/10×100 is equal to 120. Ideally, a person could only successfully undertake mental tasks apt for their age, and if a person could do mental tasks beyond their chronological age (e.g. the 10 year doing tasks apt for a 12 year old) was considered remarkably intelligent.

Another 10 year old doing tasks apt for a 14 year old would be even more intelligence and so on and so forth. Obviously, this method of measuring intelligence faced a number of challenges as it proves inadequate for measuring intelligence beyond a given age - because, as we know that (the supposed) intelligence does not just go on increasing with age - and in fact starts declining at a certain age. Modern IQ tests therefore tend to measure the subject’s standard deviation from established means (sort of midpoints) - since it has been established that intelligence in a given sample of people, like many other phenomena, if properly tabulated would form a curve and it is the deviations from the midpoints of that curve which is what is measured by modern IQ tests.

IQ tests and the whole notion of IQ testing have not been without controversy. There is contention, for example, on whether it is really possible to measure human intelligence - given that there is not even consensus on definition of the very term intelligence. The tests employed to measure intelligence have also been criticized for being biased towards certain social groups - especially after a prominent scientist in mid 20th century came up with the argument that certain races were intellectually superior to other races - an argument he backed with data obtained from IQ tests - and which was contested on account that items included in IQ tests give undue advantage to economically privileged (and thus well exposed) social groups - hence their apparent higher IQ test scores.

Young children and car journeys

Filed Under Uncategorized | Comments Off

Can you honestly say it’s a pleasurable experience taking the little ones out in the “family car” for an outing at the weekends? Usually we have just about cleared the end of the our road when the familiar question comes loud and clear from the back seat of the car “Are we nearly there yet?”
We tend to stop quite regularly to let the children stretch their legs and have a little run around, but sometimes this just is’nt really viable and that’s when we have to turn to plan B.
Generally we muddle through, but here are a few tips for surviving car travel with kids.
One: Always try to allow plenty of time for stops. Maybe two hours of car time, then a break, this seems a good idea with young children.
Two: Prior to the journey let them get a special backpack or bag together with crayons, books, toys, activity sets, stickers, handheld games and maybe even including some new wrapped surprises for little kids.
Three: Small board games can be a good investment.A tray would be helpful for this or just something to play the game on. If these new games are just kept for the car journeys they will probably not become bored with them.
Four: Bring plenty of snacks, such as fruit, crackers, juice packs, and treats, also an insulated bag for cold drinks would be a great idea, especially in hot weather. Disposable cups, elastoplasts and a towel, will more than likely come in handy. For the “pit stops” a frisbee and ball for a little play around is a good way to expend some energy and one item which is a must is of course baby wipes no matter how old your children are.
Five: Stories on audiobooks can make the miles fly by. Maybe even play a story for the whole family on the car stereo system, or if possible bring individual players for the kids. Make sure you visit your local library to stock up on stories beforehand.
Six: Stop off at Burger King or MacDonalds and whilst Mum and Dad get a much needed snack or bite to eat the children can have a break in the playrooms. Or maybe just let the kids burn off energy while you order their food “to go” to eat later in the car.
Seven:  The promise of a picnic is always a winner. The children can let off some steam and you save money on food!

So, taking all this on board hopefully the children will be happy and Mum and Dad enjoy their day out too!
