My Dad Buying A Classic Mustang
Well, I haven’t had any time to talk on my weblog quite as much as I might like, on account of how much I’ve been running around town with my old man fuel his incredibly wacky midlife crisis. Okay, some would argue it isn’t as far out as it could possibly be. You see, how he did it was to get himself dressed up like fonzie, and drop by to my apartment and casually inform me, in his “coolest” possible vocal tone: “Get in, bro, we are gonna start looking for some classic Ford Mustang Sales. No joke, youngster, I’m finally going to do this thing.”
So next the two of us went out to all of those creepy vintage car showrooms that I’m always just about convinced are owned by the mob, and I watch the crazy old guy cut a check right there on the spot, for an unnaturally gleaming classic Ford Mustang. It really is quite car. It made some great noise as well.
There’s a reason why I phrased about that sound in a past tense. It sounded amazing right up to the point that it rendered itself silent. The old man maintains that it’s a pretty simple thing to fix and all he needs is the right part. I’m thinking, it can’t possibly be as painless to come across 1965 Mustang parts as it was over three decades years ago, but he swears there’s a pretty big market for them still. the nicest way to buy parts for 1967 Mustangs is through internet auctions, since you can get them all refurbished and often as good as new. They’re only sometimes a steal, though… After all, we’re talking about half-century old automotive parts.
I suppose it could’ve been worse. He might have bought a mail-order bride.
